Act as liaison for teacher and classroom volunteers, coordinate classroom parties and weekly stapling of take-home packets, help promote PTSA programs.

Help with sales, photographing PTSA events, and creating page layouts.

The Teacher & Staff Appreciation Committee could use your help! Teachers love saving time in the morning when they don't have to pack a lunch and know a yummy meal will be provided for them by caring school families like YOU. We need at least 4 volunteers to organize a grade level potluck for each grade. Responsibilities include choosing a meal theme (ex. taco bar), soliciting ingredient donations from your grade level families, set up and clean up. Grab a friend and share hosting responsibilities! Help with the maintenance and repair of books for the school and library. We apply cold laminate, tape and glue to bring books back to a usable condition, and to strengthen them for an increased life span. Training provided.

Cost is $40 which will go directly to the PTSA to support other sponsored activities and initiatives for the year!

Our annual fundraiser support the school and the programs that benefit all children in Spiritridge CommUNITY.

Our approved budget has our fundraising goal at $124,000 for the 2023/24 school year. At $210 per student we need the help of our entire community.

Provide help with set up, tear down, cashiering, and general sales at Scholastic Book Fairs, usually held in the fall and spring.

We sell high quality t-shirts and sweatshirts with our school colors and logo. Parents can purchase these items and the kids can wear them on spirit days.

PTSA will provide Ice Cream and ask for donations of beverages, toppings & utensils.
Volunteers needed to scoop ice cream and help with topping tables.

Formerly Multicultural Night, this is a school favorite family night to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our commUNITY. Families will display cultural exhibits, table displays with artwork or activities, and sample finger foods from around the world.

Join us for a fun evening of trick or treating in the Spiritridge parking lot. Families will decorate their trunks and provide candy for our commUNITY.

Please help us make this event a success and volunteer if you can!

Help plan & coordinate our school carnival.
We will need volunteers for ticket sales, game runners, face painters, help with prize table, food sales, set up / take down.
Event will be in June.

Rick Hartman "School of Toys" will host a workshop for Spiritridge students and families.
A $10 per family suggested donation is being requested.

School-wide evening event held in December where families decorate their gingerbread houses with friends. Event helpers, advertising event, set up, clean up.

A family favorite- The Lip Sync - is back! This year we will be adding a talent portion.

Pre registration for this is a must and participation will be limited to 45 participants due to time limit. Only currently registered Spiritridge students will be allowed to participate. Group performances encouraged! Sign up at the front desk between March 1st and March 10th.

* Songs/performance material must be PG
*You must provide a clip to your song 1 week in advance. No exceptions
*Snacks will be sold and volunteers needed

All students K to grade 5 are invited to participate in the Math Challenge program.
There will be 9 challenges throughout the year. Spiritridge PTSA CommUNITY Newsletter will announce when the next Math Challenge is available and the due dates for the answers.

Spelling Bee is open to all interested 1st - 5th grade students. Same as previous years, it consists of preliminary test (written) and final (spoken). It's a great way for your young spellers to improve and expand vocabulary and enjoy the fun of spelling! Top 5 (generally) will move on to the final oral round spelling bee.

Help participating classrooms in grades 1 - 5 to test students on monthly geography tests. No more than 2 sessions per month, September - May.

The Family Science Night is a fun, exciting and rewarding event, which includes a Science Fair. Its goal is to really inspire of love of science throughout the entire Spiritridge community. Scientists and guests from the community display practical applications of a variety of scientific disciplines.

Learn about energy, motion and the real consequences of design engineering- then watch to see whether each falling egg will survive intact or SPLAT!

The Challenge: To build an egg container/lander that will protect a raw, uncooked egg as it is launched from a 70-foot high ladder by the Bellevue Transportation Department.

How the competition works: All containers must be made at home prior to the event. Bring your unsealed, eggless landing device to school the morning of the launch with your name and grade labeled. Volunteers will collect the landers, install the egg and prep the container for launch. Launches will take place during all the lunch recesses.

Students bring in old books to exchange for new-to-them books. Help collect, sort, and distribute books to students.

Reflections is a National PTSA arts competition and part of the Spiritridge Academic Challenge. Organize and display student projects, assistance with lunchtime art workshops.

Support our students and classrooms with a real-time look at how food is grown. Students will learning how to grow, harvest, and prepare a variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs. The student gardens provide an experiential, hands-on learning environment, which encourages healthful eating as a key component of children's physical wellbeing.

Volunteers coordinate with all classroom teachers to provide exciting learning opportunities that expand grade-level curriculum and district-wide objectives. Together they arrange workshops, author visits, field trips and special events each school year. All experiences are teacher-driven to ensure each activity ties directly to the BSD curriculum and enhances your child’s learning experience.

To make this day successful, we need some great volunteers. This is a great opportunity for new community members to meet other new and returning volunteers and interact with teachers and students of all grade levels.

Volunteers are needed for hearing screenings. Our school nurse is seeking parent volunteers to assist with screenings, escorting students to and from classrooms, recording results, and managing students in and out of the screening. There will be ample explanation that morning to ensure all volunteers can choose a job they feel comfortable doing.

A school-day event at the end of the year with fun activities. Event coordinators and helpers, set up, clean up, planning, participate at a station.

Hoping to return in 2023.
Typically Starting January and finishing in February, the Ski bus leaves Spiritridge after school on Wednesday and returns between 6 and 6:30 pm.

Small Hands on Art is a not-for -profit organization that instructs students in the performing arts. Everyone who enrolls gets a part of the production. They will go through the whole process from a simple audition to learning characterization, singing ability, and simple dance. It is a very fun learning environment. Most students feel like they are going to have a great time with friends or make new ones, little do they know they are coming away with some amazing instruction and stage presence.

Each play runs 4 weeks including rehearsals.

Chess Wizards offers fun, intellectual and challenging chess education and tournament experiences to children of all abilities and ages. Classes are held before school in the "cove". Register with Chess Wizards directly.

May is National Bike Month, a time for people of all ages across the country to engage in active transportation through bicycling. In addition to being enjoyable, bicycling can lead to lifelong healthy habits. During Bike to School month, and throughout the year, we encourage all students to begin their school day with a safe and active commute, helping them arrive to school ready to learn! Can’t ride all month long? Celebrate on Bike to School Day!

This committee handles the PTA membership drive at the beginning of the year. We are striving for 100% membership!
